Abstract
The Challenges of Geographic Data Management at the Digital Age

Geographic data management is facing dramatic challenges today due to the digitalisation of data, and more globally of the business environment. For the organisations that understand these changes, it opens new worlds of opportunities. Among key challenges attached to digitalisation are the skyrocketing amount of data (big data) and handling of multiple formats through either proprietary and incompatible solutions or open source ones. These solutions do not allow easy sharing of information in mutualized platforms. Research shows the organisations may they be public or private are all looking for simple tools inherited from day-to-day digital tools used for music, pictures, web browsing, and social network. The Bring Your Own Device 'BYOD' trend in IT is partially responsible for this new paradigm. How to implement this into the GIS environment, and answer organisations' requests? Isogeo has developed an IT architecture in the Cloud with SaaS modules which allows to develop extensive, well-documented and up to date GIS catalogue. Organisations find it easy to enhance their efficiency through resource-sharing and easy access to the 'right' data via a shared repository; in turn, they can will improve decision making and deliver higher quality reports, target advice more closely and develop more reliable solutions to customers or the public. Key examples of implementation include: Public sector (PPIGE, Région Nord-Pas de Calais, France, http://www.ppige-npdc.fr/geocatalogue/; Private companies (SYSTRA, the global leader in public transportation engineering infrastructures
