Abstract
Standard Open Source Software for the Social Tenure Domain Model Tool

The presentation will start off by introducing to the Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM). STDM is a concept and model desinged to address the needs of citizens living in informal settlements. It extends the LADM ISO standard with a more flexible approach to map tenure relationships. STDM has created a software tool to support the development of questionnaires, collect and create map data and support the collection of relevant information. The second part of the presentation will show the positive impact of using standards-based Open Source software for the implementation of the tools required by the Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM). The development of the STDM software tools started with a focus on offline data acquisition with low hardware requirements. The data has been modeled to live on a Postgres database with PostGIS extension and is ready for highly scalable server environments. The next phase of the project will focus on leveraging web based and mobile tools to complement the solid standalone core. The system is fully standardized with W3C and OGC interface and data specifications. The outlook will highlight the technical roadmap and indicate how to directly interact with the project.
